What is Invisalign?

Invisalign orthodontic treatment allows you to straighten your teeth without metal braces. At your consultation, your Dentist will confirm if you are eligible for treatment. The next step is an appointment for an iTero® scan. This is a device that is used to map out the mouth in preparation for improvements in the bite and smile. Jade Dental Practice is one of the few practices in the area able to offer this type of scan.

The traditional way of making impressions involved the use of a liquid plaster product for making a mold of the teeth and gums. This method was not 100% accurate and most patients found the procedure uncomfortable.

The iTero® scanner works by using digital technology to come up with a 3D diagram of the mouth. It uses hundreds of focal points to come up with measurements in nearly every way imaginable. This basically becomes the blueprint by which the orthodontic product (aligner) will be made. The scan is much more precise than what could be achieved with traditional impressions.

Depending on the complexity of the treatment, you will receive a series of custom-made aligners to wear every day and change at home, on average every 1-2 weeks. You will visit your Dentist around every 6-8 weeks to monitor progress and receive your new aligners.

Life can continue as normal as the Invisalign system discreetly does its work. You can comfortably wear your aligners for 22 hours a day and because the aligners are removable, it’s easy to maintain your regular oral hygiene and enjoy your usual diet.

After finishing your straightening treatment you will receive a set of three Vivera retainers. To give you the ultimate smile makeover, you will then start your Zoom or Boutique home whitening treatment.
